Construction payroll is hours-driven. Unlike salaried work, most construction pay is calculated from the hours each worker actually worked, plus overtime, plus statutory deductions.
The problem in construction is that the hours arrive from the field in inconsistent ways: paper timesheets from one site, a spreadsheet from another, and verbal estimates from a third. By the time the payroll clerk reconciles everything, the pay period is already under pressure.
FastBuild changes the starting point. Hours come from the GPS attendance records produced during the pay period. Each worker's payroll profile holds the hourly rate and pay frequency. Overtime rules are set at the company level, so the same thresholds apply across all sites.
Generating a pay period is an explicit step: the manager selects the date range, and FastBuild calculates regular hours, overtime hours, gross pay, and then the Canadian statutory deductions: CPP, EI, and federal and provincial income tax based on tax brackets and personal claim codes. Vacation pay is applied where configured.
The period is then reviewed, approved, and marked as paid. Each employee's pay stub shows the full breakdown from regular pay to net pay.
